Discussion: The Language Divide

The language we use can influence our perception of those at different points on the political spectrum, and be used as a weapon to drive people further apart. We hear it every day online, in the media and in conversation. During our guided discussion, we’ll have the opportunity to identify polarizing speech, and ways to avoid or overcome it. The aim is to aid critical thinking when encountering extreme viewpoints presented in everyday language.

There is no registration required for this event. Just bring yourself and your willingness to exchange views respectfully with others. As a starter, please read Polarization in Communication: How to Avoid Polarizing Speech, from the ADR Times.

We look forward to seeing you on June 24th at 2pm.
